About St. Francis Xavier School
Part of the Diocese of Baton Rouge and located near downtown Baton Rouge, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School (SFX) serves a predominantly African American student population in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8th. Since 1920, The administration, faculty, and staff of SFX have strived to provide a Christian environment for fostering and strengthening our Catholic faith. Our school proclaims the message of the Gospel to the students. We believe that all children can learn, and apply problem solving, critical thinking, and higher-level concepts and skills in real life situations. Our students are guided to become leaders and give service and assistance to others. We believe that learning for all includes students, parents, teachers, and community. Parents should be actively involved in all educational activities of the school. Quality teaching is the key to every child’s success. Therefore, our school is committed to providing for the spiritual, academic, social, physical, and emotional growth and development of the whole child to reach his or her potential.

About the Position
St. Francis Xavier Catholic School seeks a principal with a strong Catholic identity, commitment to growth, collaborative spirit, and strategic vision. The principal has the immediate responsibility for implementing the mission of SFX in its regular operations. This position supports the philosophy, principles and characteristics of Catholic education and assures quality service to students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community. The principal must have the ability to relate well with children, parents, teachers, and the community, honor the rich traditions and culture of Catholic education and work collaboratively with the Pastor to lead the school positively in its mission. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Practicing Catholic for whom loyalty to Christ, His people, and the Church are of first importance and hold a philosophy of education consistent with this Catholic conviction
  2. Master's Degree, Able to Meet LA Non-Public Requirements for Administration
  3. Five Years Minimum Experience in Education, Preferably in Catholic Schools
  4. Demonstrated Leadership Ability, Preferably in Catholic Education
  5. Community roots in Assumption Civil Parish preferred but not required
  6. Must be Available on or before July 1, 2023
